Until around 2005, the origin of the famous Isle of Man Parish Walk was uncertain. This was due to the fact that it started more than a century prior, it has grown widely in popularity over time and has become the event we all know and love.
The uncovering of the history is thanks to a local man, veteran Parish Walk participant and Steam Packet Captain, Mr Dermot O'Toole, who has a published book on the event, called "A Walk Through Time", he has since written another book to commemorate the 100th year of the event, called "The Ultimate Challenge"
Remember to come and visit your friendly team at your local Karsons, either in Onchan or Kirk Michael in order to stock up on essentials for the big day.
The Parish Walk website has all the information you will need to know for the event, including;
